SPREAD

Our lives are often dominated by many things that are spread by various kinds of media. Using the motif of a butterfly's wings slowly unfolding as a motif, I wanted to express the gradual spread of many phenomena in society into our lives. The series symbolizes a double meaning inspired by a butterfly's wings and the butterfly effect.

CYTILT

The diversity of our lives stems from the multitude of thoughts and perspectives we possess. There are as many perspectives as there are individuals and the same object or phenomenon can be seen in numerous ways. It is from this concept that this series takes its inspiration. The circular tube, with its absence of edges and vertices, appears remarkably simplistic from any angle. However, deliberately tilted and cut at different angles, the circular cube generates a range of visual changes and effects in response to the wearer's movements, variations in light, and the onlookers’ perspectives.

MEMORY

Each individual possesses their own unique memories and recollections. In order to preserve these memories, we employ various methods and mediums to record or store them. The lead frame, being a type of semiconductor component, retains its distinct color even after being used, symbolizing the memories it holds. I have endeavored to capture the mechanical individuality and beauty of the lead frame by encapsulating it in a frame symbolizing memories made of silver.

MARRIAGE

This design symbolizes the unity of man and woman in marriage. When a couple gets married, they become one, but individual freedom must be given within the framework of marriage. These two rings are individually designed to be worn together as one ring. The hexahedron structure is intentionally slightly looser than a snug fit but when it is worn with a circle ring, it stays on a finger while still having enough space to move. (Left)

Men and women in marriage say that they should rely on each other(Interdependence).  Most people say that interdependence emulates the image of a triangle. I see interdependence as being composed of equal and parallel states. I have invoked the notions of magnanimity, coalescence, and grace with the shape of the letter “H.” The ring’s “H”-like shape was created for this sole purpose of union. (Right)

Vertices

This ring is inspired by the scaffolding that is often seen in New York City. Much like scaffolding unfolds at various angles to form a unified structure, the lively and expressive culture of New York City feels like a single thread to me. And like the city of New York, which is composed of individuals with different personalities, the bars of the ring converge at different angles, meeting at each vertex to create a variety of angles and shapes to suit the wearer's style. The ring embodies an innovative and dynamic boldness reminiscent of the diverse people and culture of New York City.

SWIRL

Relationships can yield complexity and in the midst of such, it may turn into a big whirlpool of emotions. Such mixed rings of whirlpool somehow strike a resemblance to a mixture and complex webs of people’s emotions tangled together. Among such, love may be the epitome of conflicting emotions, as it may take a form of restrictiveness in the name of love, yet it also allows freedom to flourish within the boundaries of love.

The design feature of the Swirl reflects such binding oneness by linking each washer into a non-detachable form yet a non-stop, metamorphic nature of multi-shapes when the Swirl is touched, worn, or put on a surface. This expresses the conflicting yet harmonious emotions that love portrays, via the medium of five washers chosen, connected yet not locked, allowing unlimited display of free form. The design motive starts from the whirlpool of complex emotions of restrictive yet free love, but the final product portrays such complexity via simple language, absent of any decorative elements.

The five washers are intertwined and interlocked, yet each washer has its own life. When one wears the Swirl, each individual washer comes alive and takes a ‘live’ form by gliding along one’s finger or arm, going through a metamorphosis to arrive at a final shape, creating a perfect and free form, befitting that one special person.  It thus also offers added pleasure and unexpected fun to the wearer. The initial feel of restrictiveness is gone and a new liberated feel is here to stay. While silver may be the most common and popular material, the Swirl is also available in precious metals.

3456∞Infinity

3456∞Infinity Pendant collection design comprises multi-shapes of a triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, and circle. One unique feature of this design series is how the pendant can be worn. For example, the square pendant can be worn four different ways by choosing to show either the silver or gold face and by moving the chain to show the square or diamond shape.

Non-vertex shapes like a circle can also be worn four ways, via the creation of a narrow and wide surface for the chain to pass through. Such diversity in ways to wear and the resulting variations in shapes and texture of the pendant can offer variety in the eyes of the beholder. For example, it can even be used as a mode of communication, if one chooses to wear the necklace to show one’s special mood or feelings, or to assign a symbolic meaning by wearing it in a certain way for an anniversary or on a special occasion. A more intimate form of communication can happen if the wearers are a couple or a group of friends, it creates intimate exclusiveness or symbolizes a unique friendship identity. The variation of versatile designs in one jewelry lends these necklaces an organic, lively character. Instead of passively accepting a designer-set pre-customized design, such analog-styled wearability allows the user to take over the ‘designer’ role in creating and changing the look of the day. The beauty of this jewelry is thus highlighted in the paradoxical co-existence of creative diversity in simplicity, i.e. versatile metamorphic designs using simplistic and basic shapes, giving a timeless and modern look.
